No I’m not saying just because you’ve hit the senior circuit you now own the license on flexibility. What I am saying is when a person hits that magic number let’s say 50, flexibility becomes or will become important pretty fast. Quality of life issues as one ages becomes important. Having the ability to do everyday normal tasks without feeling achy and stiff become important. Keeping your muscles flexible may lower blood pressure, allow you to be more physical active socially like dancing. And it  keeps those hip and knee joints lubricated to meet some physical challenges.

When talking about flexibility one has to mention stretching exercises. Stretching helps maintain flexibility. Yoga and Pilates are two ideal disciplines seniors can work on because it offers low impact exercise that is gentle on the body. Many heath facilities offer yoga and Pilates classes to their members. Some offer flexibility training classes. But if you are not able to participate in any group class, pop in an exercise DVD and do it at home. Aging is a natural process that doesn’t have to be feared. Commit to getting your tendons, joints and muscles back when as a kid you had great range of motion. Getting old then just becomes a number.
